Ingredients

Scale

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye or filet mignon steaks (or your preferred cut)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)

For the Shrimp:

  • 12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

For the Creamy Garlic Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)

Optional Sides:

  • Mashed potatoes
  • Grilled asparagus
  • Garlic butter broccoli

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Steak

  1. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the steaks and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare (adjust time based on your preferred doneness).
  4. In the last minute of cooking, add butter and fresh thyme or rosemary. Baste the steak with melted butter using a spoon.
  5. Remove from the skillet and let rest for 5-10 minutes.

Step 2: Cook the Shrimp

  1. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Toss in the shrimp, season with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Cook for 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  5. Drizzle with lemon juice and remove from heat.

Step 3: Make the Creamy Garlic Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Stir in Parmesan cheese, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth and thickened (about 3 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley.

Step 4: Assemble and Serve

  1. Plate the steak and top with the creamy garlic sauce.
  2. Arrange the shrimp alongside or on top of the steak.
  3. Serve with mashed potatoes, asparagus, or your favorite side dish.
  4. Garnish with extra parsley and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use Room Temperature Steak: Let your steak sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking to ensure even cooking.
  • Don’t Overcook the Shrimp: They cook quickly, so watch them closely to avoid a rubbery texture.
  • Make the Sauce in Advance: The creamy garlic sauce can be made ahead and gently reheated when serving.
  • Use Fresh Garlic: It makes a huge difference in flavor compared to garlic powder.
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
