For the Steak:
- 2 ribeye or filet mignon steaks (about 1-inch thick)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon butter (for basting)
For the Shrimp and Lobster Sauce:
- ½ cup cooked lobster meat, chopped
- 6 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup chicken or seafood broth
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Steak
- Remove the steak from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature.
- Pat dry with a paper towel and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
- Sear the steak for about 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your preferred doneness.
- Add butter to the skillet and baste the steak by tilting the pan and spooning the melted butter over the steak for extra flavor.
- Remove from the pan and let the steak rest while making the sauce.
Step 2: Make the Shrimp and Lobster Sauce
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.
- Add the chopped lobster meat to the pan and stir for 1 minute.
- Pour in the heavy cream and broth, stirring to combine.
- Sprinkle in Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Return the shrimp to the pan and stir to coat.
Step 3: Assemble and Serve
- Place the cooked steak on a plate.
- Spoon the creamy shrimp and lobster sauce over the steak.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use a Meat Thermometer: For medium-rare, cook to 130°F (54°C); for medium, cook to 140°F (60°C).
- Don’t Overcook the Seafood: Shrimp and lobster cook quickly—remove them from heat as soon as they turn opaque.
- Rest the Steak: Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing to keep it juicy.
