Description

If you’re craving a restaurant-quality surf and turf meal at home, this Steak with Shrimp and Lobster Sauce is the perfect choice! Juicy, seared steak topped with a rich, buttery seafood sauce—it’s elegant yet simple enough for a special dinner at home.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye or filet mignon steaks (about 1-inch thick)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for basting)

For the Shrimp and Lobster Sauce:

  • ½ cup cooked lobster meat, chopped
  • 6 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken or seafood broth
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Steak

  1. Remove the steak from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature.
  2. Pat dry with a paper towel and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  4. Sear the steak for about 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your preferred doneness.
  5. Add butter to the skillet and baste the steak by tilting the pan and spooning the melted butter over the steak for extra flavor.
  6. Remove from the pan and let the steak rest while making the sauce.

Step 2: Make the Shrimp and Lobster Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add the chopped lobster meat to the pan and stir for 1 minute.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and broth, stirring to combine.
  6. Sprinkle in Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  7. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Return the shrimp to the pan and stir to coat.

Step 3: Assemble and Serve

  1. Place the cooked steak on a plate.
  2. Spoon the creamy shrimp and lobster sauce over the steak.
  3. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a Meat Thermometer: For medium-rare, cook to 130°F (54°C); for medium, cook to 140°F (60°C).
  • Don’t Overcook the Seafood: Shrimp and lobster cook quickly—remove them from heat as soon as they turn opaque.
  • Rest the Steak: Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing to keep it juicy.
