These patties are packed with the delicate sweetness of shrimp, a touch of spice, and an irresistible crunch. Perfect for a light lunch, dinner, or even as a showstopper at your next BBQ, these shrimp burgers are a game-changer.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Patties:

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled, deveined, and roughly chopped
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning or Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

For the Burger:

  • 4 burger buns (brioche or your favorite type)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced red onion

Optional Toppings:

  • Tartar sauce, mayo, or aioli
  • Avocado slices
  • Pickles
  • Cheese (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Shrimp Mixture

  1. Place half of the shrimp in a food processor and pulse until it forms a paste.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp paste with the remaining chopped shrimp, panko breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, green onions, mustard, Old Bay seasoning, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly combined.

Step 2: Shape the Patties

  1. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  2. Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to firm up.

Step 3: Cook the Shrimp Patties

  1. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).

Step 4: Assemble the Burgers

  1. Toast the burger buns lightly for added texture.
  2. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the shrimp patty, tomato slices, red onion, and your favorite sauce or toppings.
  3. Add the top bun and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Don’t Overprocess the Shrimp: Keeping some chunks of shrimp adds texture and bite to the burgers.
  • Refrigerate the Patties: Chilling them helps prevent them from falling apart while cooking.
  • Adjust the Seasoning: Tailor the spice level to your preference by adding more or less Cajun seasoning.
