Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Shrimp Mixture
- Place half of the shrimp in a food processor and pulse until it forms a paste.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp paste with the remaining chopped shrimp, panko breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, green onions, mustard, Old Bay seasoning, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Mix well until the ingredients are evenly combined.
Step 2: Shape the Patties
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
- Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to firm up.
Step 3: Cook the Shrimp Patties
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat.
- Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
Step 4: Assemble the Burgers
- Toast the burger buns lightly for added texture.
- Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the shrimp patty, tomato slices, red onion, and your favorite sauce or toppings.
- Add the top bun and serve immediately.
Notes
- Don’t Overprocess the Shrimp: Keeping some chunks of shrimp adds texture and bite to the burgers.
- Refrigerate the Patties: Chilling them helps prevent them from falling apart while cooking.
- Adjust the Seasoning: Tailor the spice level to your preference by adding more or less Cajun seasoning.
