Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz linguine or spaghetti
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
Step 2: Season and Cook the Shrimp
- In a bowl, toss the shrimp with Old Bay seasoning until evenly coated.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp and set aside.
Step 3: Make the Garlic Butter Sauce
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter.
- Stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping up any bits from the bottom of the pan.
Step 4: Combine and Serve
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and shrimp. Add pasta water a little at a time if the sauce needs thinning.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Don’t Overcook Shrimp: They cook quickly, so remove them as soon as they turn pink.
- Reserve Pasta Water: This starchy water helps bind the sauce to the pasta.
- Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh lemon juice and parsley elevate the dish.
