Description

These Homemade Brownies are rich, fudgy, and loaded with deep chocolate flavor. Whether you love them gooey in the center or slightly cakier, this simple recipe delivers the perfect brownie every time. No box mix needed—just classic ingredients and pure chocolate goodness!

Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter (½ cup / 1 stick, melted) – Makes the brownies rich and moist.
  • Granulated Sugar (1 cup) – Adds sweetness and helps create the crinkly top.
  • Brown Sugar (½ cup, packed) – Adds depth and extra chewiness.
  • Eggs (2 large) – Essential for structure and texture.
  • Vanilla Extract (2 tsp) – Enhances the chocolate flavor.
  • Cocoa Powder (½ cup, unsweetened) – The key to deep chocolate taste.
  • All-Purpose Flour (¾ cup) – Just enough to give structure without making them cakey.
  • Salt (½ tsp) – Balances the sweetness and enhances the flavor.
  • Baking Powder (½ tsp) – Gives a slight lift without making them too fluffy.
  • Chocolate Chips (½ cup, optional) – For melty, chocolatey pockets.
  • Chopped Nuts (½ cup, optional) – Walnuts or pecans for added crunch.

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 3: Sift the Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.

Step 4: Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.

Step 5: Bake the Brownies
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Step 6: Cool & Serve
Let the brownies cool completely before slicing for clean edges. Enjoy warm, or serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs – Helps with a smoother batter.
  • Don’t overbake – They’ll continue to set as they cool.
  • For extra fudgy brownies – Reduce the flour slightly or add an extra egg yolk.
  • For cakier brownies – Add an extra egg and bake a few minutes longer.
