Ingredients
- 1 large loaf of bread: Sourdough or Italian bread works best.
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese: Or a mix of your favorite melty cheeses.
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted: For brushing the bread.
- 2 garlic cloves, minced: For a flavorful buttery glaze.
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped: Optional, for garnish.
- Salt and pepper, to taste: To enhance the flavors.
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Bread
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Using a serrated knife, make diagonal cuts into the bread about 1 inch apart, stopping just before cutting through the bottom. Repeat in the opposite direction to create a crosshatch pattern.
Step 2: Add the Cheese
3. Carefully stuff shredded cheese into each cut, making sure every crevice is filled.
Step 3: Make the Garlic Butter
4. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
Step 4: Brush the Bread
5. Generously brush the garlic butter over the top of the bread, ensuring it seeps into the cuts for maximum flavor.
Step 5: Bake the Bread
6. Wrap the bread loosely with foil and place it on a baking sheet.
7. Bake for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden and crispy.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
8. Remove the bread from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Choose the Right Bread: Use a sturdy loaf with a crusty exterior and soft interior for the best results.
- Keep It Even: Slice the bread evenly so it cooks and pulls apart uniformly.
- Experiment with Cheeses: Try cheddar, gouda, or a spicy pepper jack for a fun twist.
