For the Fried Ravioli:

  • 12 oz refrigerated ravioli (cheese or meat-filled)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)

For the Marinara Dipping Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

For Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh basil or parsley
  • Extra grated Parmesan

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Marinara Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  4. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Keep warm.

Step 2: Prepare the Breading Station

  1. In one bowl, place flour.
  2. In a second bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  3. In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3: Bread the Ravioli

  1. Dip each ravioli in the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

Step 4: Fry the Ravioli

  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the ravioli in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

(Alternative: Bake or Air Fry for a Healthier Option)

  • Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Air Fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, shaking halfway.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!

  1. Arrange fried ravioli on a plate.
  2. Garnish with fresh basil and extra Parmesan.
  3. Serve warm with marinara dipping sauce.

Notes

Use Fresh or Frozen Ravioli – If using frozen, thaw slightly before breading.
Double Coat for Extra Crunch – Dip twice in egg and breadcrumbs for a thicker crust.
Don’t Overcrowd the Pan – Fry in batches for even cooking.
Keep Warm in the Oven – Place cooked ravioli on a baking sheet in a 200°F (95°C) oven while frying the rest.
