Ingredients

Scale

For the Bread Bowl:

  • 1 large round bread loaf (sourdough or artisan bread works best)
  • 1 wheel of Brie cheese (about 810 oz)

For the Cranberry Topping:

  • 1 cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest (optional, for extra flavor)

For Garnish:

  • Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs (optional, for a festive touch)
  • Crushed pecans or walnuts (optional, for added crunch)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Bread Bowl

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Using a sharp knife, cut a circle into the top of the bread loaf, about 4-5 inches wide. Remove the top and hollow out the inside, leaving about 1-inch of bread around the edges. Save the removed bread for dipping.

Step 2: Add the Brie

  1. Unwrap the Brie wheel and place it inside the hollowed-out bread bowl.
  2. Score the top of the Brie with a knife to help it melt evenly.

Step 3: Top with Cranberry Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, mix the cranberry sauce, honey, and orange zest.
  2. Spoon the cranberry mixture over the Brie, spreading it evenly.

Step 4: Bake the Bread Bowl

  1. Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet. Cover the edges of the bread with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning.
  2. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the Brie is melted and gooey.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

  1. Remove the bread bowl from the oven and garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs and crushed pecans, if desired.
  2. Serve warm with the saved bread pieces, crackers, or fresh veggies for dipping.

Notes

  • Choose the Right Bread: A sturdy loaf like sourdough holds up well and provides a crunchy exterior.
  • Warm the Cranberry Sauce: If your sauce is thick, heat it slightly to make spreading easier.
  • Add More Flair: Sprinkle a touch of cinnamon or a drizzle of maple syrup for extra flavor.
