Description

If you’re looking for the ultimate comfort food, this Crockpot Philly Cheesesteak Mac and Cheese is the perfect dish! It combines creamy, cheesy mac with the savory flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak—all made effortlessly in the slow cooker. It’s rich, hearty, and packed with tender beef, sautéed peppers, onions, and plenty of melty cheese.

Ingredients

  • Beef (1 lb, thinly sliced or shredded) – Use steak, roast beef, or even ground beef.
  • Elbow Macaroni (3 cups, uncooked) – Classic pasta for mac and cheese.
  • Green Bell Pepper (1, diced) – Adds a fresh, slightly sweet crunch.
  • Onion (1, diced) – Essential for that Philly cheesesteak flavor.
  • Mushrooms (1 cup, sliced, optional) – Adds depth to the dish.
  • Beef Broth (2 cups) – Enhances the savory, beefy flavor.
  • Evaporated Milk (1 can, 12 oz) – Makes the mac and cheese extra creamy.
  • Cream Cheese (4 oz, cubed) – Adds richness and smoothness.
  • Cheddar Cheese (2 cups, shredded) – Provides the perfect melty texture.
  • Provolone Cheese (6 slices, torn into pieces) – Classic for Philly cheesesteak.
  • Garlic Powder (1 tsp) – Enhances the overall flavor.
  • Salt & Black Pepper (to taste) – Balances the dish.
  • Butter (2 tbsp, optional) – Adds extra richness.

Instructions

1. Prep the Beef & Veggies
If using raw steak or beef, slice it thinly. Dice the bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms.

2. Sauté for Extra Flavor (Optional)
For richer flavor, heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tbsp butter. Sauté the beef until browned, then transfer to the slow cooker. In the same skillet, sauté onions, peppers, and mushrooms until slightly softened.

3. Add Ingredients to Crockpot
Place the beef, sautéed vegetables, uncooked macaroni, beef broth, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in the slow cooker. Stir to combine.

4. Cook on Low
Cover and cook on low for 1 ½ to 2 hours, or until the pasta is tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

5. Add Cheese & Creaminess
Once the pasta is cooked, add evaporated milk, cubed cream cheese, shredded cheddar, and provolone pieces. Stir well until everything is melted and creamy. Let cook for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Serve & Enjoy
Ladle into bowls and serve hot! You can garnish with extra cheese or fresh parsley for a pop of color.

Notes

  • Use Thinly Sliced Beef – It cooks faster and stays tender.
  • Don’t Overcook the Pasta – Stir occasionally and check for doneness.
  • For Extra Cheesiness – Add more provolone or even a little mozzarella.
