Ingredients
For the Cobbler Base:
- Unsalted Butter (½ cup, melted) – Adds richness.
- Granulated Sugar (1 cup) – Sweetens the cobbler.
- Brown Sugar (¼ cup, packed) – Adds a caramel-like depth.
- All-Purpose Flour (1 cup) – Creates the cobbler’s soft texture.
- Baking Powder (1 ½ tsp) – Helps it rise.
- Salt (¼ tsp) – Balances the sweetness.
- Milk (¾ cup) – Keeps the batter moist.
- Vanilla Extract (1 tsp) – Enhances the flavor.
For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
- Granulated Sugar (½ cup) – For that classic snickerdoodle taste.
- Ground Cinnamon (1 tbsp) – Warm and aromatic.
- Hot Water (1 cup, very hot but not boiling) – Helps form a caramelized topping.
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Batter
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Pour the melted butter into the bottom of the baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the batter over the melted butter but do not stir—it will create a layered effect.
Step 2: Make the Cinnamon Sugar Topping
- In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar evenly over the batter.
Step 3: Add the Hot Water
- Carefully pour the hot water over the entire cobbler. Do not stir—it will create a caramel-like sauce as it bakes.
Step 4: Bake the Cobbler
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!
- Spoon the warm cobbler into bowls and top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Enjoy the cinnamon-sugar goodness!
Notes
- Don’t Stir the Layers – Let the batter, cinnamon sugar, and hot water stay in layers for the best texture.
- Use Fresh Cinnamon – Fresh spices will enhance the warm, cozy flavors.
- Let It Cool Slightly – This helps the cobbler set and makes serving easier.
- Make It Extra Buttery – Brush melted butter on top after baking for a richer finish.
