- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pan
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients
3. In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
4. Add melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and espresso powder. Whisk until well combined.
Step 3: Add Dry Ingredients
5. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Step 4: Incorporate Chocolate Chips
6. Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving a few for topping.
Step 5: Bake the Banana Bread
7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Step 6: Cool and Serve
9. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
- Use Ripe Bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your bread will be.
- Espresso Boost: Dissolve the espresso powder in a teaspoon of water for a more even distribution of flavor.
- Storage: Wrap the loaf tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil to keep it moist for days.
- Custom Add-ins: Try adding chopped nuts or a swirl of peanut butter for extra texture and flavor.
