  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Green Beans

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the green beans for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  3. Drain and immediately plunge the green beans into ice water to stop the cooking. Set aside.

Step 2: Make the Cheesy Sauce

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  2. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Slowly pour in the milk, whisking constantly to create a smooth sauce.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  5. Add sour cream, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Step 3: Assemble the Casserole

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the green beans with the cheesy sauce. Toss until evenly coated.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 4: Add the Crunchy Topping

  1. In a bowl, combine the prepared Cheddar Bay biscuit crumbs with melted butter. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the casserole.
