  • 1 ripe avocado, mashed
  • 1 (5 oz) can tuna, drained
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, provolone, or Swiss are great choices)
  • Optional toppings: sliced tomatoes, red onion, or fresh spinach

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Bagels

  1. Preheat your oven or broiler to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the bagels in half and toast them lightly.

Step 2: Make the Tuna Salad

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, paprika (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Step 3: Assemble the Bagels

  1. Spread the mashed avocado evenly over each bagel half.
  2. Top the avocado with a generous scoop of the tuna salad.
  3. Add a slice of cheese on top of each tuna-covered bagel half.
  4. (Optional) Layer on additional toppings like sliced tomatoes, red onion, or spinach for extra flavor and texture.

Step 4: Melt the Cheese

  1. Place the assembled bagels on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake or broil for 3-5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
