Ingredients

  • Large Onions (2, sliced into ½-inch rings)
  • All-Purpose Flour (½ cup)
  • Cornstarch (2 tbsp): Helps create a crispy coating.
  • Eggs (2 large, beaten)
  • Milk (¼ cup)
  • Panko Breadcrumbs (1 cup): For extra crunch.
  • Parmesan Cheese (2 tbsp, grated): Adds a savory boost.
  • Paprika (1 tsp): For a hint of smokiness.
  • Garlic Powder (1 tsp)
  • Salt (1 tsp)
  • Black Pepper (½ tsp)
  • Cooking Spray: To help achieve a golden crust.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Onion Rings

  1. Peel and slice the onions into ½-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

Step 2: Set Up the Coating Station

  1. In the first bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. In the second bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  3. In the third bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.

Step 3: Coat the Onion Rings

  1. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  2. Dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  3. Finally, press it into the panko mixture until fully covered.

Step 4: Air Fry the Onion Rings

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the onion rings in a single layer.
  3. Spray the tops of the onion rings with cooking spray to help them crisp up.

Step 5: Cook to Crispy Perfection

  1. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  2. Repeat with remaining onion rings.
